Career College of Nursing, BHEL Bhopal, in Collaboration with the Society of Midwives India (SOMI), Madhya Pradesh Chapter, Hosts Symposium on Essential Newborn Care On 29 December 2025, Career College of Nursing, BHEL Bhopal, partnered with the Society of Midwives India (SOMI), Madhya Pradesh Chapter, to organize a one-day symposium titled “Essential Newborn Care” at the Career College Auditorium. Supported by Himalaya Wellness Company, the event drew 270 participants, including ANMs, staff nurses, nursing officers, midwives, students, faculty, vice-principals, and principals from Bhopal's nursing colleges.Commencing at 9:30 AM with registration, a warm welcome, and inauguration—graced by Chairman Shri Manish Rajoriya's inspiring address—the programme featured and overview by Prof. Jobin John sir. Expert sessions followed, led by Dr. Usha Ukande, President of SOMI India, covering golden hour care, kangaroo mother care, breastfeeding, neonatal danger signs, and community-based newborn care. Prof. Dr. Soney Toppo presented on the importance and challenges of newborn care, complemented by discussions, skill-based station rotations, an open house, and a post-test to reinforce learning.During the session Sunita Dangi mam Community health officer shared her real life experience of saving the life of mother and baby.Symposium was honored by the presence of Principal of Career College (Autonomous) and Career College of Law. Forensic Nursing book lauch was done in the presence of all.Overall it enriched participants' knowledge and clinical skills, advancing community newborn care quality.
